Growing up in Norton Street, Georgetown , in a family of nine with seven kids, I had a very comfortable childhood. My dad was an excellent provider who admonished us daily to study hard , excel in school and thus inherit a better lifestyle than he could provide. My Mom would say, “Eat all your food because there are children starving in China.” As a child I did not know that there were kids living just blocks away who were also starving. Many years later on a fleeting visit, I was truly amazed at the poverty I saw and determined to do something to help. By providing clothing and school supplies to kids, we are freeing the meager resources of their parents for food and shelter. Later, we hope to do much more so that some of these kids might escape their poverty and later give back to the next generation. You can help by spreading the word to all well wishers.
